I was becoming strong and fit of body and mind for the TA, but there was still a lot to do in preparation for a successful tour. First and foremost getting the right ride.

No, I don’t think this Porsche will make it through the hobbit hills - not the way we are heading. Yes, I know it’s not a bicycle. But I love the colour, and have handed it on to my illustrious frame builder who is on a time trial of his own. Two frames, four racks and 6 bags in three months - let’s not forget this is his side hustle.

I’m backing him. I know he’ll be good for it.
